Product Description

Ahh, baby has finally fallen asleep. Time to do the dishes/eat dinner/go to sleep…but wait! Is that the baby waking up? Is she coughing? Is she breathing?

Every new parent (and one or two veteran ones, too) knows this scenario. It’s lovely when your baby sleeps, but it sure would be nice to keep an eye on her, too. But there aren’t too many parents around who have the luxury of sitting quietly in baby’s bedroom, watching her sleep. This is why baby monitors were invented. And traditional audio monitors are a terrific boon to modern parents. But the Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor—now here is technology at its finest!

Turn On, Tune In, and Stay Out of Baby’s Room
With this slick little monitor, not only can you hear your little angel’s every breath and snuffle and rustle, but you can see her every move, too! From anywhere in the house, no less! Sound lights visually show baby’s level of activity, while nighttime LED lights on the camera make the baby fully visible day and night. Simply push one button on the parent unit to take a peek, then push the same button when you’re reassured enough to rely on the sound lights for a while. With a 350-foot range, you can carry the monitor receiver everywhere you go, even into the yard. And, most importantly, you won’t be tempted to poke your head in through that creaky bedroom door you keep meaning to fix just for a quick look at your little tot—which inevitably results in her waking and needing to go through the whole bedtime rigmarole again.

Techy Details
The 1.8-inch screen is plenty big enough to see what you need to see: your little darling’s slumbering form in full color (during daylight hours) or black-and-white (the automatic nighttime view). The parent unit includes 900 MHz technology for superior clarity of sound. If static occurs, switch channels on the two-channel selection to minimize interference. Two power options—rechargeable battery or A/C—provide parents with the freedom to roam or stay put. The rechargeable battery lasts up to 10 hours, making it a good choice for travel. The parent unit also includes an audio/video output jack and is headphone-ready (headphones not included). Brightness control and volume control features allow parents to tone it down or turn it up when necessary. Screen automatically "times out" to save batteries. "Power on" indicator lets parents know, well, when the unit’s on! Baby’s unit includes A/C-powered camera, nighttime LED lights for viewing baby in a darkened room, self-filtering directional microphone, two-channel selection to minimize interference, and "power on" indicator.

And You Put It…?
Baby’s unit provides tabletop or wall-mounted options. A belt clip and stand on the parent unit allows complete portability, while an anchor and security clips (6 included) enables parent to mount the receiver on the wall. --Emilie Coulter

I received this as a baby shower gift. 2 months after we started using it the monitor stopped working. My twins are 10 months old and the thing loses it's charge within an hour. If it's not losing it's charge it's pure static and white noise EVEN when plugged in. I wouldn't recommend it to watch over my bird let alone my twins.
Wonderful Video Monitor for the Price

I carefully considered which video monitor I wanted to purchase and I decided that the Summer Infant Day & Night was the best choice in it's price range. The camera can twist and turn to many angles so that no matter where you put it in the baby's room, you can get a clear shot. I love that it can be plugged into an AC adapter or you can unplug it and take it with you. I used it when I went to play in the yard with the older kids while the baby was inside napping. I loved that I could just take a peek at him at any moment. It is wonderful for peace of mind. I also like that you can turn the video on or off which saves the battery life. It is also nice to be able to see exactly why the lights are going off on the monitor. With my audio only monitors, I always wondered if the baby was really waking up or just moving around and adjusting. I would always have to go in the room and potentially wake the baby up. This allows me to check on the baby without having to go in the room. It is so convenient. The viewing monitor is nice because it is lightweight and has a clip so you can attach it to your pants or belt if you are busy doing things around the house. The reception is great. We brought the monitor along on vacation and it worked wonderful there too.
We also have used the monitor in the room with our 2 year old. She discovered on vacation how to get out of her pack n play. We put the video monitor in there so we could catch her in the act.
I would highly recommend this product to any parent!

I'm not a huge fan of baby monitors to begin with as in my experience they have a lot of static noise. To my supprise the amount of noise the Summer Infant Day & Night Handheld Color Video Monitor with 1.8" Screen - Silver made was acceptable, while clearly allowing any baby noises through. The video is a nice addition as instead of having to open and peek through a door you can check on the monitor, keeping baby asleep if all their doing is dreaming.

The range and battery life of the hand held is very good and the night mode is exceptional.
Pretty great!

I can't believe that I waited 2 years to buy a video monitor! We got this because my daughter had a feeding tube put in and we needed a way to keep an eye on her while she was in her bed and I'm so pleased with the monitor. The infrared lights work great at night and it's not hard to at all to see her in her bed. There are three things that I'm not thrilled about that kept me from giving this product 5 stars. 1) I wish that the audio was voice activated. The constant static is a little annoying while you're trying to sleep. 2) The indicator light on the reciever are very bright, again annoying while you're trying to sleep. 3) The picture tends to jump at weird times. It never goes out completely and I'm guessing that it's just interference but it's just unexpected.
Lasts forever!

I bought this monitor to use for my daughter who is now 4yo. I always forgot to turn the camera off so it was basically on for about 14mos 24/7. Now I've done the same thing with my 9mo old. IT STILL WORKS! I am amazed that the picture is still clear and it still functions properly. Only one time I have turned it on and seen another baby in some house somewhere. I am all about privacy and protecting my kids, but really, if once you see another child & someone sees yours, that doesn't give them your name and address! As for static, of course it has static occasionally, but what cordless phone, cell phone, radio, etc doesn't get interference every once in a while? I would honestly rather have the ability to SEE my child than hear her. If she's crying, I hear her. But it is nice to look and see her sleeping peacefully or having a blast in her crib with her toys. I would definitely recommend this product. It has put my mind at ease thousands of times over the past 4yrs with both my daughters. Great product!
