Starting School – What Age Should Children Begin School?
"How old should my child start school?"
This is a frequently asked question by many parents. It is complicated, if your child's birthday happens to fall close to a deadline for the new school enrollments.
There are many factors to consider, including: a child's gender, his or her general willingness and readiness and family circumstances, such as siblings nearby.
However, as a rule I do not recommend parents rushing to children from the academic track. It istempting to get children to preschool or school at the earliest possible age, especially if your child is socially responsible and usually a bright spark.
It is a mistake to assume that an early start in each area is a good start. The Finnish experience stands as a shining example for parents and educators around the world. Although Finnish education authorities have delayed the start of school until as late as seven years, it seems little or no gap between the educationalAppearances at the later end of school. In fact, in terms of dropout rates and the willingness to train these children seem far ahead.
Currently, in many western countries, we seem to come out devils in shaping the environment for children at an early age to maximize it, learning and child development. Nothing wrong with that per se, but we must keep it in perspective and remember that children need time, space and opportunity to children. This means thatThey should not always be in an adult-structured environment or living in a child, the adult version "of what should be a decent childhood. They need time and space to explore, climb, hide, balance, bounce, and use their imagination. And Adults do not all have so much, this is not the permit. children are climbing and jumping on furniture to hide behind chairs and turn a living room into a spaceship, as only half a chance, and the TV off.
It is tempting to underestimatethe importance of parents as the first beginning of a child's teacher. Pick up a parenting magazine and you will find all kinds of ads for early childhood classes ranging from movement to music classes to see. Okay, there are some experiences a parent can not provide, but I am burdened with the wisdom of the early life child neglect with music, ballet and tennis lessons, and certainly the opportunity to explore them a chance to dream, and just kidding.
Children 'sNot change basic needs. The fundamentals of early social, physical and psychological needs are placed in the first seven years – and it is developing through play that most children.
What has changed is the time spent by a child who does not sit to be active, the steadily declining years that stress can throw into the pot and how some children have little time for children.
Provision of opportunities for outdoor play outside and at home is important. One-on-one interaction with aParents is important to strengthen confidence, promotes language development and teach problem-solving and perseverance.
The best start for a child is the opportunity to grow in a relaxed atmosphere with time and space to explore their physical and social environment for successfully with his colleagues in a mixture of structured and unstructured environments, and many linguistic and experiential mix one-on-one with a trusted and caring adult. It sounds a lot like home!
